Treat the injury, then manage the comeback
From weekend netball to premier rugby, we treat the injury and manage the comeback. We lodge your ACC claim on the spot, set milestones, and test your strength before you return. Several of our physios play or work in high-level sport themselves.
We also look at why it happened: training load, movement patterns and strength gaps. That way you come back stronger than before.
Strength is the best injury insurance
Muscle, tendon and bone all get stronger when they're progressively challenged, and weaker when they're rested too long. We prescribe graded programmes using gym equipment and resistance bands, and progress them as you adapt. That's what turns "pain-free" into "won't come back".
How long until I'm back?
| Injury | Typical window |
|---|---|
| Ankle sprain | 2–6 weeks |
| Muscle strain (hamstring, calf, quad) | 2–8 weeks |
| Tendinopathies | 6–12+ weeks |
| ACL reconstruction rehab | 9+ months |
These are typical windows, not promises. Your physio maps your own plan at your first visit.
Sports injury FAQ
Are sports injuries covered by ACC?
Yes. A sports injury is an accident injury, so ACC covers treatment and you pay a co-payment. We lodge the claim at your first visit, with no GP referral needed.
Which clinics have a gym for rehab?
Titirangi, Pakuranga and Panmure all have gyms on-site, and Pakuranga and Panmure also have pools.
When can I go back to sport?
When you pass your strength and return-to-sport tests, not just when it stops hurting. Your physio sets milestones at your first visit and tests them as you go.
