Rehab where the water does the heavy lifting
Standing waist-deep, buoyancy carries roughly half your body weight. That means painful or healing joints can move and strengthen much earlier than they could on land. Warm water also relaxes protective muscle guarding and eases stiffness.
Hydrotherapy is ideal after surgery, for arthritic hips and knees, or whenever land-based exercise is still too much, too soon. As you get stronger, we move you from the pool to the gym.
Hydrotherapy FAQ
Where does Total Body Physio offer hydrotherapy?
Our Panmure clinic is inside the Lagoon Pools complex at 29 Lagoon Drive, with a hydrotherapy pool and gym on-site. Our Pakuranga clinic is at Lloyd Elsmore Pools, also with a pool and gym on-site.
Who is hydrotherapy good for?
It suits people after surgery, people with arthritic joints, and anyone for whom land-based exercise is still too painful. Buoyancy takes weight off the joints so you can move and strengthen earlier.
Is hydrotherapy covered by ACC?
Yes, when it's part of treatment for an accident injury. At Panmure your first ACC visit is free and follow-ups are $30.
