What is the McKenzie Method?
The McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT) is a system of musculoskeletal care emphasizing patient empowerment and self-treatment.
It is evidence based assessment and management of conditions of the spine and the extremities.
Postural advice and specific individualised exercises when delivered by an MDT trained clinician enable the majority of patients to effectively self-manage their condition.
The McKenzie Method Courses are taught in multiple languages across the world and started in New Zealand through a chance discovery in the 1950’s by Robin McKenzie who was a physiotherapist working in Wellington.
